WethePeople1787.org is a home-grown website dedicated to educating the citizens of the United States about the Constitution, our form of government, and our place in it. We believe, with Thomas Jefferson, that "If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be."

We believe that over time, the understanding of our history and form of government, and the teaching of such in our schools, has been so 'dumbed down' or even neglected that we are now losing the rights our forefathers and mothers fought and died for. We believe that there is "... no safe depository of the ultimate powers of the society but the people themselves; and if we think them not enlightened enough to exercise their control with a wholesome discretion, the remedy is not to take it from them, but to inform their discretion by education. This is the true corrective of abuses of constitutional power." (Thomas Jefferson in a letter to William C. Jarvis, 1820.)

It is time we take back our government and make those who represent us follow the Constitution of our Land. Only by educating our people can we once again make this country as great as it is meant to be.
